Strictly judges slammed for rudeness to Graeme Swann

High marks weren't enough for Ashley Roberts

There was a big shock in tonight’s Strictly results show as Ashley Roberts found herself in the bottom two.

The Pussycat Doll has received the most tens of the series so far and has been a favourite to win the BBC show, having been described as the best celeb dancer the show has ever seen.

But she had to dance for survival against Graeme Swann.

The cricketer’s quick step only scored 24 points on Saturday night compared to Ashley’s 36 – which included a ten from Bruno Tonioli who had loved her samba routine.

And Ashley was also the top scorer in the Lindyhop-athon with her partner Pasha Kovalev – once the confused judges had worked out the results that is!

But the singer’s high marks weren’t enough to ensure she went through to the quarter-finals and she needed the judges to save her instead.

They unanimously voted off Graeme following the dance-off, saying Ashley was the better dancer and deserved to keep her place in the competition.

A disappointed Graeme said he was sad to leave after loving his time on the dance floor but agreed that Ashley should be the one to carry on, and he had been living on borrowed time.

He thanked his professional partner Oti Mabuse for teaching him to dance and she thanked him for giving her the most fun of any series she’s done.

The England cricketer turned commentator had wanted to do the show because his three young children are massive fans and he wanted to do them proud.

Some viewers were unimpressed with the judges, in particular Bruno Tonioli, for being so blunt about Ashley so obviously being the better dancer and deserving to keep her place.

Many fans had expected paralympian Lauren Steadman and her partner AJ Pritchard to be in danger after they scored just 23 points for their salsa, and were the lowest scorers in the Lindy Hop.

But it seems the young pair have a lot of public support as votes from the viewers ensured they will go on to dance again.

Joining Lauren and Ashley in the quarter finals are Stacey Dooley, Fay Tozer, Charles Venn and Joe Sugg.
