The dust has barely settled on the dance floor, but celebrities are already throwing their hats into the ring to take part in next year’s Strictly Come Dancing.

Alan Carr is reportedly the first showbiz name in the frame to put on his dancing shoes next year.

The comedian was at the final when Stacey Dooley and Kevin Clifton lifted the Glitterball trophy and show bosses are said to be keen to get him to sign on the dotted line.

According to sources, the Chatty Man host has already met with bosses, who think the 42-year-old would be the “perfect celebrity” for the show.

A source told The Sun: “Alan has met with bosses and they all hit it off straight away.

“He’s the perfect celebrity for Strictly because he’s popular, funny and throws himself in to everything – but he’s never had a day’s dance training in his life. What’s certain is he won’t hold back.”

Louis Theroux also hinted he would be willing to waltz on to the dance floor next year.

Taking to Twitter to congratulate Stacey on her win, he wrote: “Congrats @staceydooley! Me next!”

Fellow documentary maker Stacey replied: “Louis. You waltzing in a sequin shirt would shut down the internet and sent the entire UK into complete euphoria. 2019 GIVE US WHAT WE ALL DESERVE.”

The show’s presenter Tess Daly has confirmed that talks are already underway with celebrities to take part on next year’s show, with some already agreeing to slip on the sequins.

Tess revealed that “people have been approached” and that “there’s a few who have already confirmed”.

Tess’ co-host Claudia Winkleman also revealed that they have a pact that they will both only stay on Strictly as a duo.
