I’m a Celebrity launch in jeopardy as huge storm heads towards camp

Rain now... typical!

It’s due to kick off on Sunday November 18, but the launch of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! is hanging in the balance as heavy storms head towards base camp.

The site, held near Murwillumbah in New South Wales, Australia, is expecting heavy storms and huge downpours in the run up to the new series.

If the storms are particularly bad, the show’s producers may be forced to intervene.

“The place has been through a drought for the past few months and everyone has been praying for some rain,” a source told the Daily Star. “Now it’s set to come right at the start of I’m a Celebrity.

“Holly had better pack her wellies for the launch, as well as her swimsuit.”

With the camp mates at the mercy of the elements, the presenters, their families and evicted camp mates will be protected from the weather at the plush Palazzo Versace on the Gold Coast.

But while she’s adding to her suitcase, it might be a good idea for Holly to pack an eye mask too.

Extra Camp presenter Scarlett Moffatt told Phillip Schofield last month that due to the time difference, the presenters are often forced to try and catch up on sleep during the day.

The former Goggle Box star admits to wearing both sunglasses and eye masks to try and block out the Australian sun as the hotel’s curtains are “flimsy”.

“We’re working night hours – like owls and strippers,” Joel joked, adding: “Next week we go out and have a few run-throughs and then we try and get to it.”

Meanwhile, Joe Swash is already Down Under, where he is currently filming online segments ahead of the show’s launch.

Although he had to bid an emotional farewell to girlfriend Stacey Solomon, Joe has been enjoying making “amazing memories” alongside his son Harry, 11, and mum Catherine.
