As if this series hasn’t been dramatic enough so far – with snake bites, tears on day one, and staging accusations – we’ve now lost a presenter after a freak accident sent him to hospital.
I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here: Extra Camp presenter Joel Dommett suffered a head injury, after severe winds caused a wooden sign to crash into him.
The presenter – who hosts alongside previous jungle queen Scarlett Moffatt and actor Joe Swash – was rushed to hospital to get stitches and be checked over.
He revealed the traumatic incident on Instagram on Tuesday, sharing a picture of himself in hospital and with his head bandaged up.
He wrote: “Unfortunately due to unforeseen windy circumstances blowing the set onto my head during rehearsals, I won’t be able to present Extra Camp this evening.”
The 32-year-old revealed: “I had seven stitches like a big brave boy and I’ll be back tomorrow. To be honest I’m less worried about my health and more worried that the show will be better without me. Half a day off school to go home and watch neighbours! Woo!”
He also wished his co-stars the best, writing: “GOOD LUCK @scarlettmoffatt and @realjoeswashy.”
Joel then took to InstaStories to thank everyone for their concern and declare: “I’m OK, I’ve got this little cartoon bandage.”
He described the incident, admitting he’d got blood all over Scarlett’s hoodie and laughing: “I fainted, then I woke up and Joe was kissing my face.”
His 587k followers wished him a speedy recovery writing: “Hope you feel better soon 🙏😘.” A second commented: “Poor you won’t be same without you haha.”

Scarlett, 28, shared her sadness at losing her sidekick, taking to Instagram to post a picture of the remaining team, which included Joe, Megan McKenna and Andi Peters.

She wrote: “What a team… just missing my right hand man & fellow jungle hammock swinging buddy Joel 🐍🕷🐛.”
Fans clamoured to know what would happen without Joel and whether he’d be back.
One wrote: “Hope he is ok 😘,” as another asked: “Will Joel be back tonight?”
She also recorded a video on her InstaStories, thanking fans for all their support. She added: “I really miss Joel, but hopefully he’ll be back tomorrow.”

Poor Joel! This sounds like it was pretty traumatic, but maybe worth it to get a kiss from Joe Swash…
