Fans want to know why I’m A Celeb winner Toff won’t hand over her crown

It's been a tradition for the past six years

| Updated:

For as long as we can remember, it’s been our favourite part of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of here! when the previous winner appears at the final to hand over their crown to the new jungle king or queen.

But this year, Georgia ‘Toff’ Toffolo – who won last year’s series – reportedly won’t be doing it.

The Made In Chelsea star will apparently be making an appearance on the jungle spin-off Extra Camp this week, but then she’ll be returning to the UK without waiting for the final.

An insider told the Mail Online: “Toff is due to fly out to Australia this week, for a stint on Extra Camp. But she’ll be flying back to the UK after that.

“There’s still about another week of the show left, after she returns. And there aren’t plans for her to go back again. This means she won’t be there to personally crown whoever wins this current season.”

ED! has contacted representatives for I’m A Celebrity for comment.

Fans were disappointed by the rumours, taking to social media to ask: “Why won’t she be there?” followed by a sad face emoji.

Another added: “Oh what a shame! :-((.”

A third suggested the new presenter as a replacement, writing: “Let’s have a guess here who is going to crown the winner – Holly Willoughby no doubt.”

But insiders say it’s never been an official part of the final, telling The Sun: “Since the show began in 2002 it’s never been part of the main show to have the previous winner specifically come back to Australia and hand over to new King/Queen.”

It may not be a tradition set in stone, but it’s certainly expected. In fact, the last celebrity who didn’t personally hand over their crown was McFly star Dougie Poynter, way back in 2012.

The source continued: “It only happened the past two years because Scarlett [Moffatt] and Vicki [Pattison] were already presenters of the spin-off show. ITV2 used to have the previous year’s winner on their show for the final so Foggy [Carl Fogarty] and Charlie [Brooks] were there and also handed over the crown.”

The 2017 winner is clearly still a big fan of I’m A Celeb though, and works as This Morning’s entertainment reporter, updating fans on this year’s show.

The 24-year-old also tweets regularly about the series, and posted a picture this weekend alongside fellow I’m A Celeb alumni, Larry Lamb, writing: “Excited to see @imacelebrity at 9pm tonight where I’ll be debating with other former #imaceleb contestants how I like to do Christmas dinner.🎄🍾.”

Last week she also seemed to be crushing on DIY SOS presenter Nick Knowles, who is one of this year’s jungle campmates, writing: “Young Nick Knowles though 👀 #imaceleb.”

She also joked on Instagram about looking a little better this year than last.

Beside a stunning snap of herself in a gold dress, Toff wrote: “Looking a little bit more presentable than this time last year 😂🐛.”

Her 1.9m followers piled in to call her “Simply gorgeous,” a “stunner,” and “Glowing.”
