Gareth Southgate cooked up some truly mouthwatering football this summer as he took his England team to the semi-finals of the World Cup.
And it sounds like he might now be ready to rustle up a different kind of feast – on the celebrity edition of The Great British Bake Off.
According to a report in the Daily Star, the 47-year-old is ‘obsessed’ with the show and is hoping to be invited onto a future series.
The last celebrity version of Bake Off – and the first since the show moved to Channel 4 – was screened in March of this year.
That means Channel 4’s execs will probably already be on the lookout for stars to appear on next year’s edition.
And if the Daily Star’s report is anything to go by, Southgate would be only too happy to show off his snazzy waistcoats in that big white tent.
Claiming that the England boss hosts ‘Bake Off-themed parties for pals at his home in North Yorkshire’, a source told the paper: “Gareth is obsessed with the Bake Off.

“It would be a dream come true to get the chance to appear on the show – although he’d probably go to pieces meeting [presenters] Prue [Leith] and Paul [Hollywood]!”
In March, The Great Stand Up To Cancer Bake Off saw celebs including Martin Kemp, Harry Hill and Stacey Solomon battle it out for supremacy in the kitchen.
But before we see any more celebrities, we have the normal version of the show to tuck into.
And this week, a teaser for the forthcoming series appeared on Channel 4’s Twitter feed, alongside the words: “Let the baking season commence.”

Fans of the show were rather taken by the clip, which showed various foodstuffs looking sorry for themselves as Christina Aguilera’s hit Beautiful played in the background.
One commented: “That made me emotional. I can’t believe it’s been a year already. How time flies – but I can’t wait for the next series.”
Another added: “Oh my goodness. This has made my night!”
