Gemma Collins vows to make her critics eat their words

She wants to prove everyone wrong on Dancing On Ice

Gemma Collins has promised to make her Dancing on Ice critics eat their words.

The 37-year-old TV star – who is best-known for her appearances on The Only Way Is Essex – has claimed people are expecting her to fail miserably on the show, but Gemma is determined to prove her doubters wrong.

She told The Sun newspaper: “Everyone thinks I’m the fat joke on the show but whatever’s going to happen in my life, I can do this.

“And I’m going to prove every [bleep] out there wrong. People will be eating their words.”

Gemma said she is already feeling the benefit of her skating experience, revealing she’s lost a significant amount of weight thanks to the demands of skating.

She said: “There’s still a little bit of excess fat there, but I am so much more toned.”

Gemma feels much healthier for eating better and exercising on a regular basis.

And she’s convinced she has what it takes to excel on the ITV show.

The reality star shared: “I’ve gone from doing no exercise to exercising two hours a day.

When you feel better you don’t want to eat [bleep].

“I’ve cut down on a few takeaways because I know that if I have one late at night then I have to come here in the morning.

“Then, you know, I’m not getting around that ice.”

Dancing On Ice host Phillip Schofield has voiced his concern about this year’s contender Gemma Collins making it to the live shows.

Phil, who will be hosting with Holly Willoughby when the series returns in January, said he’s not convinced the GC will stay on the show as she’s “something of a quitter”!

He told The Mirror: “Obviously we’ve got Gemma. I’ve said this to her if she makes it to the first show I’ll be really thrilled.

“By her own admission Gemma is something of a quitter when it comes to these sort of things. I’m absolutely thrilled that Gemma is doing it.”

The 56-year-old This Morning presenter added that everyone taking part is at a “higher” level this year.

He continued: “This year we’ve gone for, there aren’t any to my knowledge, any novelty ‘I can’t skate’ skaters.

“Everyone seems to be starting from a higher level this year. The competition will be really tight and fun.”

Phil’s comment about Gemma comes after she walked out of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! after just three days in 2014.

Meanwhile, 37-year-old Gem says she’s been working hard – and falling down a lot! – in training.

She insisted she was giving it “everything” in a sneak peek of her routine on Instagram this week.

The Essex girl has been regularly updating fans with her antics on the ice and recently revealed she badly bruised herself after taking a tumble.

Her professional skating partner Matt, 42, has also been singing her praises.

Gemma admitted her reservations before starting the show but she said she wants to give it her all.

She said on This Morning: “I know how hard it is, I’ve done my research. I am scared and nervous, I don’t know how they’re gonna lift me up and how fast I can get around the ice… I really want to give this a go.”

Phil’s comments also come after celeb skater Brian McFadden said Gemma has been deleted from the DOI group WhatsApp for being a “diva”.

It’s going to be an eventful series…
