The 38-year-old also sent a video message to ITV’s Lorraine on Tuesday morning to share his exciting news.

Also announced as a celebrity contestant on Tuesday morning was professional dancer James, 40, who broke the news on BBC Radio Five Live Breakfast.

He’s no stranger to reality shows having appeared on Celebrity Big Brother.

James said: “I can dance but I’m a lot older than I used to be. People are going to probably say I’ve got an unfair advantage but when I got on the ice I actually shocked myself how bad I was.

“I want to be able to impress Torvill and Dean more than anyone else, but I’m a lot worse than I thought I’d be.”

When he was congratulated on Twitter by former Dancing On Ice contestant Jake Quickenden, James joked: “Apart from the fact I can’t ice skate, I’m [bleep], but will work hard.”

Brian and James join previously announced contestants Gemma Collins and Richard Blackwood.

TOWIE’s Gemma and EastEnders actor Richard were unveiled as celebrity skaters on Monday’s This Morning, where they were interviewed by Dancing On Ice co-hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby.

There will be 12 skaters in total this series.

Gemma said: “I know how hard it is. I’ve done my research, don’t worry. I am scared, I am nervous, I don’t know how they’re going to lift me up and how fast I can move on the ice.

“But I really want to give it a go. I love the costumes. I want the fun-factor. It’s just something I think I really want to give this a go.”

Meanwhile, Richard admitted he used to skate as a child when he lived in Sweden.

He said: “I used to skate quite a lot when I was younger on frozen lakes and an ice-skating rink.”

When asked how good he is at skating, Richard continued: “I can skate but I normally dance on dry land so dancing and skating are two different things that I’ve got to combine, but I can skate, yeah.”

Speaking about his dancing talents, Richard added: “I can move I’m not going to lie. I can shake my stuff. I’m dangerous.”

No pressure, then!
