Call The Midwife star Daniel Laurie praised for ‘beautiful’ and ‘important’ performance

Reggie has been absent from the series so far

Call The Midwife fans were thrilled last night as one of the drama’s most popular characters Reggie ever made a comeback.

And viewers praised actor Daniel Laurie for a “beautiful” and “superb” performance after Fred and Violet’s kind-hearted lad helped a sailor in need.

Reggie was caught up in a smallpox scare after encountering a sailor thought to be infected with the disease, lending a helping hand with food donations.

But despite getting the all clear after revealing he had not come into direct contact with the stricken serviceman, who turned out to be suffering with leprosy instead, Reggie’s selflessness generated waves of good feeling with viewers.
