Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes debate whether they’re too old for children

They didn't share the same opinion

Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes discussed whether they’re too old to have children after meeting a woman who gave birth at 58 on Wednesday’s This Morning.

The duo met Carolyne Ness, 59, who said her “life is now compete” after she had her son Javed through embryo adoption.

After the interview, Ruth – who has a 16-year-old son, Jack, with Eamonn – said she would have a baby at 58 if she didn’t have any other kids.

Eamonn, 58, asked his wife: “At your age, if you could or you didn’t have a child or wanted another child, could you see yourself going through with it?”

Ruth, also 58, immediately replied: “Absolutely, yeah.

“I mean, I literally feel fit, I feel healthy, I feel vibrant, I love children, I always wanted more than one, so yeah.”

Eamonn, who has four children, asked: “Even aware of your age, you still would?”

Ruth said: “I wouldn’t because I’ve got one, but if I didn’t have one, that’s what I’m saying.

“Often people are in a privileged position of having children and saying ‘oh, you shouldn’t do that, you’re too old,’ but when you have that longing for a child… I don’t feel I’m too old.”

But Eamonn admitted having another child at his age would be his “worst nightmare”.

He said: “I think that’s my worst nightmare. I feel it, I’m thinking ‘No, I’ve done it all, don’t want to revisit.’ You could?”

Ruth responded: “Don’t you worry, I’m not going to,” to which a relieved Eamonn joked: “Maybe if you get a younger husband!”

Eamonn and Ruth, who married in 2010, have son Jack together while Eamonn has sons Declan, 29, Niall, 25, and daughter Rebecca, 27, from a previous relationship.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday’s This Morning, Carolyne revealed paid £4,500 to have a procedure to fulfill her dream of having a child.

She told the couple that she chose an egg donor and a sperm donor after finding out she had fertility issues in her mid 30s.

Carolyne said: “I didn’t focus on it too much when I was younger and I think I tried to fill that gap with other things, I travelled a lot and I socialised a lot.

“But I always felt like something was missing and since I’ve had Javed, I’ve realised what was missing. My life is complete now that I have my baby.”
