Eamonn Holmes makes huge blunder on This Morning

It was mid-interview too!

Eamonn Holmes was left red-faced on today’s This Morning when his phone started ringing live on air.

The ITV host was in the middle of an interview with a student who earns £60,000 a year posting online videos of herself whispering when they were rudely interrupted.

At first the 58-year-old assumed it was his wife and co-presenter Ruth Langsford’s mobile that was buzzing while in silent mode.

But it soon became apparent to an embarrassed Eamonn that it was his own phone.

He decided to pick it up and answer the call by whispering: “Hello?” before hurriedly turning off the device.

The gaffe happened as the couple were interviewing Sophie Michelle Goodall.

As it started vibrating on the table in front of them, Ruth asked: “That’s a very irritating noise. Is that my phone?”.

Her husband picked it up to say it was hers, but she quickly realised it wasn’t and insisted: “No, it’s his phone. How irritating.”

Eamonn decided to play along with the theme of their interview and whispered into the mobile before continuing with the show.

Fortunately, the guest wasn’t fazed and carried on telling them how she has 250,000 subscribers to her YouTube channel that helps people relax with her whispering.

Having watched a clip of Sophie in action, a baffled Eamonn told her: “That’s my nightmare. That’s one of the most irritating things I’ve ever come across.

“But I’m not dismissing that for a lot of people, and you have an amazing following. This works for them.”

Sophie said her technique was called Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response, or ASMR, which she said improved sleep and relaxation.

It isn’t the first time Eamonn has been interrupted by his phone during the daytime show.

Last year, he received a cold call while he and Ruth were interviewing a group of reality stars on the sofa.

Perhaps he should start turning his mobile off completely!
