GMB viewers stunned by Richard Madeley’s underwear confession

TMI, Richard!

Richard Madeley stunned Good Morning Britain viewers on Friday when he revealed he hasn’t worn underwear “for decades”.

The presenter, 62, made the candid confession during a discussion on female shapewear with co-star Kate Garraway, actress Hayley Hasselhoff and blogger Jessica Jones.

Richard, who has been filling in for Piers Morgan on the show, admitted he has found it “much more comfortable” not wearing boxers.

Richard started by saying: “We’re all human beings, we have bodily functions and everything.

“In the last commercial break I went to the loo and came back.”

After Charlotte Hawkins revealed she was wearing shapewear under her dress, Richard asked her: “If you’d gone [to the toilet] would you have got back in time?”

Charlotte said she would have and Kate went into more detail about female shapewear.

Richard then joked: “Well they told me this week was going to be an education,” to which Kate asked: “I thought you went commando?”

Richard replied: “I do. It’s well known, that’s not news, it’s not breaking news. I haven’t worn boxer shorts for decades. It’s much more comfortable.”

He quickly added: “I do shower regularly.”

Kate quipped: “It’s good to get it out there, all out in the open.”

It wasn’t long before viewers took to Twitter to share their thoughts on Richard’s revelation.

One person said: “I really didn’t want to have to consider Richard going commando while attempting to digest my brekkie.”

“Richard going commando… I’ve just spit my cornflakes out!” another tweeted.

Meanwhile on the show, Richard revealed he was forced to shave off his beard by the Good Morning Britain boss.

The star said he received a late-night call from “the big man” telling him to remove his facial hair.

He said: “The fuzz from yesterday is gone. I was just going to bed last night and the phone went. It was the ‘big man’. I could hear something coming down the line at me.

“He said, ‘before I go, the beard… it’s fine on the tablets and the kitchen tellys, but in HD it looks like you’ve got in late and not had time to shave.”

Richard added: “So it’s all gone, smooth as a baby’s bottom.”
